Glossary of Terms

  1. "Phones" as used in FREETALK Connect, include not only the obvious IP desktop phonesets but also Users’ Skype clients and other softphones1 on PC’s and smartphones and phones that are external to the LAN/Internet such as mobile phones and landline phones. For the Setup Wizard only IP phones on the LAN and User Business SkypeID’s are required.
  2. Phone Services” are any service that provides a voice connection service external to the LAN such as PSTN landlines, Skype for Asterisk, Skype Connect Profiles and any SIP-based services (often also called VoIP or DID services). For the Setup Wizard only Skype for Asterisk is required; it will automatically add any analog PSTN lines connected to it.
  3. User” is any party authorized to receive inbound and send outbound calls through the FREETALK Connect. A User may be assigned to multiple Phones and/or Teams.
  4. Team” is any group of Users designated to receive calls for a designated purpose such as Sales, Support, Finance, Customer Service and Administration.
